These are diagnostic and therapeutic procedures performed using special needles, wires, and catheters through a small incision in the skin (percutaneous) or through a vein (endovascular) accompanied by imaging methods such as Angiography, Computerized Tomography, and Ultrasonography.
Interventional Radiology performs treatments of many organ systems that were previously performed with surgery, without surgery.
The basic features of interventional radiology treatments are that there is no need for surgery or anesthesia. Procedures are always performed through a small needle hole. There is no scar on the body after the procedures. For this reason, they are also called mini surgical procedures. Since imaging methods are always used when entering the body, there is a chance to see the inside of the body and perform treatment without cutting the skin.
In the vast majority of procedures, the patient is sent home the same day or after staying home for more than a day.
High-tech devices are mostly used in therapeutic procedures of patients.
